Wages and Hours

£155.63 & 37.5hrs per week, Mon – Fri 9am-5:30pm

Job Description

● Answering telephones and taking messages ● Based on reception you will assist secretaries with making appointments ● Photocopying - keeping forms stocked ● Pink and Blue slips to enter into the day book ● Making tea and coffee ● Washing up ● Putting the post up which includes recorded deliveries - Franking as well as DX Service completing interlink forms ● Closing files to be placed in our archive and recording and updating closed file lists, assisting the partners with the archive management ● Typing letter and fax cover sheets ● Stationery cupboard management and making orders, liaising with the firm’s book-keeper Dealing with petty cash etc ● After month 3 your role will be expanded to include secretary duties such as- taking minutes for meetings, setting up files and speaking to clients. Touch typing and arranging appointments for solicitors. This will become 50% of your role as an apprentice ● You will be given small projects to plan and carry out in preparation for a larger project near the end of your apprenticeship to go in line with your EPA ● It will be your responsibility to complete and hand work in to your college tutor on time and to a high standard ● You will be allocated time during your working week to complete College work and tasks.

Person Specification

Qualities required: Good organisational and people skills with a good telephone manner. Candidate must have effective communication skills, be a team player and be punctual.  The successful candidate will be reliable, trustworthy and confident as you will have to speak to clients on the telephone. The candidate will not be afraid to ask questions and be guided/learn from others. Must have a mature attitude to work with the ability to use initiative. Candidate must show a keenness to learn.

Qualifications required: Must hold GCSE grade 4 or above in maths and English or hold the equivalent qualifications.
