Course overview

Not everyone can attend regular classes- Flexible Learning means you can study at times and locations to suit you. More and more people are choosing to study on a Flexible Learning course to improve their general employability skills. The courses can be offered in a venue within the community and built around your training requirements. All our tutors are specialists in their vocational area and offer exceptionally high quality one-to-one support. Whatever your background or experience, we believe there will be a programme of interest to you.

Funding eligibility criteria:

  • Candidate must be aged 19 or over on 31 August of current year
  • Candidates aged 19-23 must already hold a Full Level 2 Qualification
  • Candidates must have resided in the EU for the past three years

Course requirements

Learners must have a genuine interest in their chosen subject. This course will be ideal for anyone who works, or would like to work, in a health care setting. The areas covered are relevant to a wide range of job roles within the health and social care sector and the programme will be useful to people involved in health and social care at all levels. Learners do not have to be in employment to enrol on this course.

What will I do?

You will be required to complete two modules of study. This course will cover, Module 1 Unit 1 Principles of the causes and spread of infection in health care settings. Unit 2 Principles of the importance of personal hygiene and health in the prevention and control of infection in health care settings. Module 2 Unit 3 Principles of decontamination, cleaning and waste management in health care settings. Unit 4 Principles of infection prevention and control in a health care setting. Learners are required to complete assessments that are based upon the information and activities within the learning materials provided. There is no end test or multiple choice exam for this course.

What will it give me?

This qualification will help learners apply good practice relating to infection prevention and control in the workplace, giving them confidence in their work. As cleanliness and hygiene are important in all walks of life, the practical understanding that learners will acquire from this programme will assist them throughout their careers and outside of the workplace.

On successful completion of the course a Level 2 certificate will be awarded. The course is accredited by a nationally recognised awarding body.
