Course overview

Not everyone can attend regular classes- Flexible Learning means you can study at times and locations to suit you. More and more people are choosing to study on a Flexible Learning course to improve their general employability skills. The courses can be offered in a venue within the community and built around your training requirements. All our tutors are specialists in their vocational area and offer exceptionally high quality one-to-one support. Whatever your background or experience, we believe there will be a programme of interest to you.

Funding eligibility criteria:

  • Candidate must be aged 19 or over on 31 August of current year
  • Candidates aged 19-23 must already hold a Full Level 2 Qualification
  • Candidates must have resided in the EU for the past three years

Course requirements

Learners must have a genuine interest in their chosen subject. This course will be ideal for anyone whose work may bring them into contact with people who have diabetes, this includes health care workers, people who work with children and young people, and those employed in the uniformed services. It may also be of interest to people who have diabetes themselves or who have a relative with diabetes.

Learners do not have to be in employment to enrol on this course.

What will I do?

You will be required to complete two modules of study. This course will cover, Module A Unit 1 Understand diabetes. Unit 2 Prevention and early intervention of Type 2 diabetes. Module B Unit 3 Understand the initial care of diabetes. Unit 4 Understand the treatment and management of diabetes. Learners are required to complete assessments that are based upon the information and activities within the learning materials provided. There is no end test or multiple choice exam for this course.

What will it give me?

This qualification will help learners apply good practice relating to the care and management of diabetes, giving them confidence in their work. Furthermore, as diabetes is prevalent in our society and current trends suggest more and more people will become diabetic in the coming years, the practical understanding that learners will acquire from this programme will be useful throughout their working and personal lives.

On successful completion of the course a Level 2 certificate will be awarded. The course is accredited by a nationally recognised awarding body.
