Course overview

Not everyone can attend regular classes- Flexible Learning means you can study at times and locations to suit you. More and more people are choosing to study on a Flexible Learning course to improve their general employability skills. The courses can be offered in a venue within the community and built around your training requirements. All our tutors are specialists in their vocational area and offer exceptionally high quality one-to-one support. Whatever your background or experience, we believe there will be a programme of interest to you.

Funding eligibility criteria:

  • Candidate must be aged 19 or over on 31 August of current year
  • Candidates aged 19-23 must already hold a Full Level 2 Qualification
  • Candidates must have resided in the EU for the past three years

Course requirements

Learners must have a genuine interest in their chosen subject. This course is designed for learners who are looking to start working, or already working in a range of settings within the public, private or voluntary sectors and want to raise their awareness of mental health. Learners do not have to be in employment to enrol on this course.

What will I do?

You will be required to complete four modules of study. This course will cover. Module A: Introduction to Mental Health. Module B: Understanding a range of anxiety disorders. Module C: Understanding a range of mood disorders. Module D Understanding other common mental health disorders. Learners are required to complete assessments that are based upon the information and activities within the learning materials provided. There is no end test or multiple choice exam for this course.

What will it give me?

This qualification will provide learners with comprehensive knowledge and understanding off the various forms of mental distress, including stress, anxiety, phobias, depression, dementia and schizophrenia among others.

Mental health problems can affect anyone. In fact, as many as 1 in 4 people in the UK will be diagnosed with a mental health issue at some point in their lives. This figure indicates that most people will have first-hand experience of mental distress, whether it be themselves or someone they know. On successful completion of the course a Level 2 certificate will be awarded. The course is accredited by a nationally recognised awarding body.
