Course overview

Not everyone can attend regular classes- Flexible Learning means you can study at times and locations to suit you. More and more people are choosing to study on a Flexible Learning course to improve their general employability skills. The courses can be offered in a venue within the community and built around your training requirements. All our tutors are specialists in their vocational area and offer exceptionally high quality one-to-one support. Whatever your background or experience, we believe there will be a programme of interest to you.

Funding eligibility criteria:

  • Candidate must be aged 19 or over on 31 August of current year
  • Candidates aged 19-23 must already hold a Full Level 2 Qualification
  • Candidates must have resided in the EU for the past three years

Course requirements

Learners must have a genuine interest in their chosen subject. This course is designed for learners who wish to improve their knowledge and understanding of end of life care and palliative care. Learners do not have to be in employment to enrol on this course.

What will I do?

You will be required to complete three modules of study. This course will cover, Module A Unit 1 Understand how to work in end of life care. Unit 2 Care planning in end of life care. Module B Unit 3 Understand how to provide support to manage pain and discomfort. Unit 4 End of life care and dementia. Module C Unit 5 Understand the role of the care worker in time of death. Unit 6 Understand loss, grief and the role of the care worker at the end of life. Learners are required to complete assessments that are based upon the information and activities within the learning materials provided. There is no end test or multiple choice exam for this course.

What will it give me?

This course will provide learners with a broad understanding of end of life care and palliative care, enabling them to provide sensitive and appropriate support to people nearing the end of life and their families. Everyone facing life-limiting illness will need some degree of supportive care in addition to effective treatment for their condition. It will also help to encourage good practice in the workplace. On successful completion of the course a Level 2 certificate will be awarded. The course is accredited by a nationally recognised awarding body.
