Course overview

Not everyone can attend regular classes. Flexible Learning means you can study at times and locations to suit you. More and more people are choosing to study on a Flexible Learning course to improve their general employability skills. The courses can be offered in a venue within the community and built around your training requirements. All our tutors are specialists in their vocational area and offer exceptionally high quality one-to-one support. Whatever your background or experience, we believe there will be a programme of interest to you.

Funding eligibility criteria:

• Candidate must be aged 19 or over on 31 August of current year

• Candidates aged 19-23 must already hold a Full Level 2 Qualification

• Candidates must have resided in the EU for the past three years

Course requirements

Learners must have a genuine interest in their chosen subject. This course is designed for learners who wish to understand more about the principles and practice of person-centred care planning and the values that underpin the planning process. It will be highly valuable to care workers involved in this process. Learners do not have to be in employment to enrol on this course.

What will I do?

You will be required to complete two modules covering six units of study. These are: Understanding person-centred thinking and planning; Care planning for the care worker; Principles of supporting an individual to maintain personal hygiene; Understanding nutrition and hydration in health and social care settings; Understanding continence care; Principles of supporting sleep. Learners are required to complete assessments that are based upon the information and activities within the learning materials provided. There is no end test or multiple choice exam for this course.

What will it give me?

By following this programme, learners will be able to develop their knowledge and understanding of person-centred care and the best ways to provide support at a time when the need for high quality, skilled and knowledgeable care workers has never been greater. On successful completion of the course a Level 2 certificate will be awarded. The course is accredited by a nationally recognised awarding body.
