Course overview

At Bishop Auckland College we are extremely proud of our traditional darkroom facilities. If you can use a digital camera this course will introduce you to the art of film photography and how to process film and make high quality black and white prints.

Course requirements

You will need some experience using DSLRs manually

What will I do?

After shooting a roll of black and white film using one of the colleges range of film cameras you will go on to learn how to develop the film using traditional wet processing. After learning how to develop your film you will then go on to produce perfect black and white prints using advanced darkroom techniques such as dodging and burning, pushing and pulling film and using filters.

Materials needed

Film camera (if you own one), 2 rolls of 35mm Ilford HP5 plus film, notepad and pen.

What can I do when I finish?

This course will give you the experience needed to progress onto the Introduction to Studio Photography. If you are aiming higher this course is a great introduction to our full-time photography courses.
