Course overview

Lighting is at the core of all photography and learning how to manipulate light is a great skill to learn. Studio photography is a great way to advance your photography and what you learn in the studio underpins techniques that can be used anywhere using any light source.

Course requirements

You will need some experience using DSLRs manually.

Materials needed

DSLR Camera, notepad and pen.

What can I do when I finish?

This course will give you the experience needed to progress onto the Introduction to Dark Room Practice. If you are aiming higher this course is a great introduction to our full-time photography courses.

What will I do?

Bishop Auckland College has very good studio facilities and you will learn how to use professional standard lighting and lighting modifiers such as snoots, barn doors, diffusers and softboxes. You will learn what studio equipment is used for, how to use it and how to set up various lighting techniques to suit various situations.
