Course overview

The NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Sports Coaching is a one year course, studying on a full time basis. The course is a blend of both practical and theory based lessons, using our onsite gym and sport facilities. You will also have the opportunity to study maths and English alongside your vocational qualification.

Course requirements

Minimum 4 GCSE’s at grades 3 - 2 (D - E) or equivalent, including a D in Maths and English, or a Level 1 qualification in a relevant subject area.

Materials needed

Sportswear and basic stationery.

What can I do when I finish?

You can progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Sport offered at the college, which will develop the required skills and knowledge to work in multiple disciplines within the industry.

You will also have the opportunity to study our NCFE Certificate in Fitness Instructing Gym Based Exercise on a part time basis as an additional qualification.

What will I do?

For the Certificate in Sport Level 2, you will study a range of Level 2 units designed to prepare you for a career in sports coaching. The units are also designed to have a direct progression to the Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Sport that we offer at the college.


Assessment will be in a variety of formats including essays, reports, presentations, academic posters, podcasts, brochures and practical assessments.

Modules studied include:

Alongside your studies, you will have the option of using our gym, free of charge and participating in regular football training and competing for our league winning football team.

What will it give me?

You will achieve a Level 2 Certificate in Sports Coaching. This will open up a number of possible progression routes for you to consider.
