The units covered in the Foundation Diploma in IT Level 3, offer students the opportunity to learn the essential knowledge, skills and understating to progress into a variety of areas in the IT industry.
The course covers:
- IT Systems,
- Software & design.
This is the first year of the Extended Diploma or it can be supplementary to other Level 3 qualification to gain UCAS points.
Minimum 4 GCSE’s at grades 9 - 4 (A* - C) or equivalent, including a C or above in Maths and English, or a Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject area.
What will I do?
This full time course is taught over three days a week for one year. Core topics covered include: IT systems & security, software development, social media in business and web development. Units are taught in class with a mixture of written and practical activities, assessment is via assignments and externally set tasks and exams.
What will it give me?
You will achieve a BTEC Foundation Diploma in IT Level 3. This is equivalent to one and a half A Levels at grade A* - C and is awarded the same UcAS points.
What can I do when I finish?
Progression internally depending upon achievement, attendance and motivation. Employment opportunities include website designer, games designer, graphics design, database designer, software design, programmer, IT technician, IT customer support, network developer, system design, system analysis and system support.
