Course overview
The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7 years of age with applied knowledge in the early years, 0-5 years. The qualification content meets the Department for Education’s (DfE) Level 2 full and relevant criteria for a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner in the workforce.
Course requirements
To gain entry onto this programme of study learners also need to have a minimum of Grade 3 alternatively level 1 in both Literacy and Numeracy, or a Functional Level 1 or higher in both subjects. A clear criminal record check by the Disclosure and Barring Service. Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement to show competence in both knowledge behaviours and skills. It is mandatory that learners complete placement hours whilst undertaking this qualification. Placement opportunity must allow for skills application with babies and young children sufficient to meet the assessment criteria for the qualification.
What will I do?
Placements are arranged by the College. You will study 14 units with varied assessments methods such reflections and assignments. You will study GCSE maths and English to further develop these for employment Grade 4s are required in this sector.
What will it give me?
Upon successful completion of this qualification learners can enter the workforce as a qualified Level 2 Early Years Practitioner or continue to study for a Level 3 Diploma holding Early Years Educator status and other relevant Level 3 qualifications relating to early years and child care.
This qualification allows a learner to count towards the Level 2 ratio as a qualified Level 2 Early Years Practitioner across the Early Years Workforce.
Materials needed
Is it useful to have access to word processing through a laptop or PC device. The CACHE Diploma Level 2 textbook can be accessed online via the college resources. You will required to purchase a uniform to wear in placement settings.
What can I do when I finish?
This qualification allows progression on to the Level 3 Early Years Childcare qualifications or gain employment.
