IT is used in most areas of employment and this course is designed to assess skills and knowledge appropriate to the world of ICT. Mandatory units provide knowledge and skills used across the IT sector whilst the specialist units focus on the creative aspects and support learners with progression into work or apprenticeships of a further level of study in the same subject sector.
Minimum 4 GCSE’s at grades 3 - 2 (D - E) or equivalent, including a D in Maths and English, or a Level 1 qualification in a relevant subject area.
What can I do when I finish?
Progression internally depending upon achievement, attendance and motivation to a Level 3 course in ICT or an apprenticeship. Potential employment opportunities may include junior roles in a wide range of areas across the information and creative technology sector, for example, website designer, computer animator, helpdesk support and graphic designer.

What will I do?
The course is taught over three days per week for one year.
Award topics covered include:
- The online World
- Technology System
- Digital Graphics
- Software Installation
- Website Design
Units are taught in classes with a mixture of activities based on the unit content including written and practical tasks.
Assessment is via online exams, assignments and an e-portfolio.
Skills in Maths and English will be taught as a mandatory part of this course. Work experience will also be included as part of this course.
What will it give me?
The course will help you achieve an Extended Certificate in Information Creative Technology at Level 2 alongside qualifications in Maths and English if you do not already hold a grade 4 (C) or above. It will help to develop skills and employment opportunities and the ability to progress onto a Level 3 course in IT.
