Course overview

By law, all food handlers must have an understanding of the basic principles of food hygiene and know how to work safely so as to protect the food they serve from contamination.

This L3 Food Hygiene Training Course is designed for managers and supervisors in the catering industry to help them understand their essential day-to-day responsibilities, including how to implement the basics of a HACCP food safety management system.

This L3 Food Hygiene course is suitable for managers and supervisors in all types of catering establishments, including restaurants, hotels, cafes, bars, fast-food outlets, takeaways, mobile food trucks, kitchens, hospitals, schools and colleges.

The L3 Food Hygiene course is also recommended for catering businesses who are aiming to achieve a L5 in the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (formerly Scores on the Doors), understand more about the Safer Food, Better Business pack and have knowledge of how to implement an effective HACCP system.

Regulation (EC) No 852/2004 on the hygiene of foodstuffs states that food handlers must be trained in food hygiene matters ‘commensurate with their work activities.' This L3 Supervising Food Safety course ensures you comply with this regulation by providing learners with detailed knowledge of food safety principles. It explains how to promote best practice in the workplace and the basics of implementing a HACCP food safety management system.

Course requirements

Previous training L2 food safety or basic food hygiene.

What will I do?

The course is delivered by our chef tutors who have a wealth of experience in this subject. They will provide you with up-to-date food hygiene information using a range of written text, as well as interactive exercises and video.

You will complete a knowledge end test to demonstrate your understanding.

What will it give me?

A nationally recognised L3 certificate that meets the standards of the RSPH, CIEH, REHIS UK and EU legal requirements for food handler approved by RoSPA.

What can I do when I finish?

You are legally able to operate within the UK as a food handler and gain the highest rating for food safety for your business or place on employment.
