Exhibition opens at No. 42
A colourful exhibition of work by talented art and photography students at Bishop Auckland College goes on display today (Friday June 30) at No. 42’s gallery.

It includes a range of fine art, mixed media, digital art and photographic images produced by 63 students and unveiled at their end of year show held at the community hub in Bishop Auckland’s Market Place last night.
The students were joined by their tutors for the VIP preview event for family and friends, prior to the exhibition’s public launch.
Photography Lecturer Eleanor Straker said: “The show is open to the public from today (Friday June 30) and is running for two weeks.
“I would encourage anyone with an interest in art and photography to drop in and take a look, including those who have applied for any of our art and design, fine art or photography courses starting this September. This will give them an idea of the kind of work they will produce during their programmes.
“None of the work is available for purchase at No. 42 but if anyone would like to enquire about a piece, they are welcome to contact the college for information.”

No. 42 was launched in 2015 by The Auckland Project as a community hub for Bishop Auckland offering creative individuals and fledgling businesses a place to display and sell their work in its gallery space and shop.
It is also a hireable space for local community organisations and groups and hosts workshops and creative activities that promote creativity, positive mental health and wellbeing.
The exhibition is open to members of the public from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, until Friday July 14 at 42 Market Place, Bishop Auckland, DL14 7PB. Tel 01388 660270.
