Changes to the start of the Spring term 2021

A message from the Principal/Chief Executive about changes to the start of the Spring term in January.

Dear students, parents and carers,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support this year during what has been a very challenging period for everyone. 

I have been hugely impressed with the resilience and adaptability shown by everyone in our College community. We have all had to adjust to new ways of learning and working, as well as the range of new safety measures on campus. 

As a result of good compliance with the College and national guidance, Covid-19 case numbers amongst students and staff have been relatively low, and time away from College has been minimised. This gives us some confidence that the measures we have in place are working to keep us safe. 

You may have seen media coverage in the last few days about the Government’s announcement of a phased return in January for students in schools and colleges. This means that for some courses more lessons will take place online during week commencing 4 January 2021. 

You will be aware that Government guidance is changing rapidly as the pandemic progresses, and so further information will be placed on this website prior to the start of term, once the position is clearer. 

You may also have seen information in the media about plans for schools and colleges to offer testing to staff and students. 

At the present time we don’t have full details about this, but once the Government releases this information, we’ll make sure that we share the implications with you. 

Whilst on-site testing may be valuable as another means of enhancing safety on campus, we are not yet in a position to say how this will work. 

I hope that you have an enjoyable break over the festive period and that you are able to find ways to celebrate safely with family and friends.
