Transport

All 16-18 year old learners may be issued a bus pass if they live over 1.5 miles away from the college. Students aged 19+ at the start of your course will need to apply for funding for a travel pass at bacoll.ac.uk/learningsupportfunds

Bishop Auckland College are in partnership with Arriva and Weardale Travel to accommodate your transport requirements to and from college.

Your pass will either be issued to you upon enrolment or within your first week at college.

Students who use Arriva Services will be issued with an Arriva Smartcard, you will need to tap this on the drivers ticket machine and travel will be granted.

Students wo use Weardale Travel Services will be issued a bespoke travel card which you will need to show to the driver. These are valid for 1 term and you will therefore need to be issued with a new travel card in January and April. Please see Lisa Robson in student finance for further information regarding this.

Both Arriva and Weardale Travel will have an amnesty in the first week of September whereby students who do not have their travel card as yet, may use the services by showing their student ID card. You must attain a valid travel card ASAP upon or after your first day in college.

Due to changes in funding, Arriva are no longer able to bring/or collect students direct from college grounds. Students who need to use Arriva will need to change services at Bishop Auckland main bus station or Cabin Gate. Please visit arrivabus.co.uk/school-travel/bishop-auckland-college-bus-travel to access timetables and services.

Due to this, we have moved our Willington and Crook services over to Weardale travel who are able to offer a service which comes directly on to the college grounds on a morning and collect from college grounds on an evening. Students who live in the following areas will be issued with a Weardale travel card should this be required:

Please click here for the 101 Stanhope to Bishop Auckland via Crook bus time table and here for the 108/9 Willington to Bishop Auckland timetable.

Please collect a pass form the Student Finance and Transport Assistant.

Should you lose your travel card for Arriva or Weardale Travel, a £15 replacement fee will be charged and your original travel card will be cancelled.

Should you withdraw from your course, please return your travel card to either Lisa Robson or the main reception.

Please see here for the College Transport Code of Conduct.
