Learning Support Assistant

Bishop Auckland College is seeking to recruit Learning Support Assistants who will be responsible for providing individual and group support for students and keeping accurate records of support delivered working across various sites.

This role will be to support learners in all areas of the college. This could be in a vocational practical / theory class, as well as Maths and English. The candidate may be allocated a learner on a 1-1 basis or in a group to support learning. The LSA will be willing to undertake further SEN training to support the role.

The successful candidate will be required to possess CACHE Level 3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent level qualification in supporting in the classroom (or to work towards within 1 year), level 2 in literacy or numeracy (GCSE grade C/4 or above), must have one and be willing to work towards the other within two years, and level 1 Safeguarding (to be achieved within 6 weeks).

It is desirable that the candidate will also possess Level 2 Equality & Diversity, Level 3 Adult Subject Support, a relevant vocational qualification, Teaching qualification eg PTLLS, and an IT qualification. Applicants will also have experience supporting young people with additional needs.

This role will include responsibilities within safeguarding and the postholder will be engaging in regulated activity.
