This position is to be based within the Durham Gateway area of the College, which is a specialist department working with pre-16 students who are studying an alternative provision route. We are currently seeking 2 x Pastoral and Learning Mentors to join the provision. The Pastoral and Learning Mentors will be responsible for supporting the students’ personal, social and educational needs, supporting the teachers in the classroom and general school environment and contributing to the overall ethos, work and aims of the school. The successful candidates will require a CACHE L3 Teaching Assistant/ PTLLS or equivalent Level 3 qualification in supporting in the classroom (or be willing to work towards within 1 year); level 2 in Literacy (or be willing to work towards within 2 years); level 2 in Numeracy (or be willing to work towards within 2 years); and Safeguarding Level 1 (to be achieved within 6 weeks). Applicants must have experience of working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, previously.
