Bishop Auckland College is seeking to recruit a SENCO who will be responsible for ensuring effective systems of communication, including feedback about student’s learning to inform future planning. Monitoring the quality of SEN support by establishing effective systems to identify and meet the needs of students, whilst ensuring that the systems are coordinated, evaluated and regularly reviewed. Ensure that the objectives of the SEN provision are reflected in delivery of curriculum and coordinate the contribution of external agencies. Ensure that the EHCP reviews are planned and carried out. Ensuring staff across college have an up-to-date knowledge of national and local initiatives. The successful candidate will have Safeguarding Level 1 (to be achieved within 6 weeks), Level 2 Literacy, Level 2 in Numeracy (or be willing to work towards within 2 years), a Certificate in Education (or be willing to work towards within 2 years) and a minimum of a Level 4 qualification in Advanced Special Educational Needs. Applicants will also have experience of 3 years’ experience of teaching SEND learners, specialist knowledge in the target planning documentation provided by the Local Authority and the implementation of the future Education, Health and Care Plans as well as an updated awareness of the new SEN reforms, knowledge of the funding streams available as a high needs learner in a post 16 environment.
