Do you want to learn something new, meet new people or gain skills for work? We have a variety of non-accredited courses to suit you.

We provide a range of courses at our three Learning Centres in County Durham (Bishop Auckland – Newgate, Crook and Newton Aycliffe) and at a range of community venues locations throughout the area. There’s also no problem fitting learning into your lifestyle, some of our courses are ‘roll-on, roll-off’ – so you can start throughout the year, not just September.

Beginners Cake Decorating

Course Overview
This is a practical course that will introduce you to the basic skills and techniques of cake decorating. Learners will be able to decorate their own cakes and take them home for consumption.

Course Requirements
For learners aged 19+ No other entry requirements this is a beginners course

What will I do?
Decorate cakes with buttercream and sugarpaste, practice using specialist equipment, pipe with royal icing, and create sugarcraft fowers and leaves using flower paste.

What will it give me?
An introduction to cake decorating and a chance to progress onto further learning

Materials needed?
All Materials and ingredients will be supplied for beginners course. Bring a tubberware or cake box to take home what you have made

What can I do when I finish?
Progress on to another course:
Level 1 Cake Decorating
Level 2 Cake decorating
Start up your own cake business

Cost is £37.50 including all materials. Full fee remission if in receipt of a means tested benefit
