As an Advanced Nail Technician Apprentice you will work under guidance of a qualified Therapist/Technician; assisting other members of staff and carrying out other beauty treatments you are qualified in.
Duties are likely to include gel nails, liquid and powder nails, fibreglass nails, nail art and 3D nail art. You will study topics such as anatomy and physiology, consultation and client care, health and safety, financial effectiveness and planning a promotion.
On this advanced apprenticeship programme you are promoting your skills so it is important that you look smart and your appearance reflects the image of your salon. Good communication plays a role too; you’ll need to understand exactly what you customer wants in order to fulfil their needs.
Ideally, you will have 5 GCSEs A*-C including English and maths.
What will I do?
You will be required to complete the NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Nail Services as well as completing Employment Rights and Responsibilities and Personal Learning and Thinking Skills.
If it is required, you will need to complete Functional Skills in maths and English. You will be allocated an Assessor who will visit you in your workplace and give you support.
What will it give me?
The course will give you a nationally recognised qualification at level 3 level, alongside invaluable experience gained in dealing with and working as part of a team. Your salon will help with your training on a daily basis and offer sessions for you to practice your skills.
To have a successful career in the nail industry you will need drive and motivation to help you constantly improve and up-date your personal and technical skills, in order to stay ahead of current trends and fashions.
