CACHE Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools L3 (Top up – 11 Weeks)

Overview

This course is for students who have gained Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools from 2011 onwards.

Course requirements

Entry requirements: GCSE grade A*-C or equivalent Level 2 literacy and numeracy. An interview and short assessment will assess your suitability and interest in the subject. Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools qualification from 2011 onwards. Due to the nature of the course and qualification it is a requirement that all students have a clear Disclosure & Barring Service check.

What will I do?

The course is made up of three units of study totalling 12 credits which will upgrade your current Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in schools from a Certificate to a Diploma: Support children’s speech, language and communication, Support learners with cognition and learning needs, Support children and young people with behaviour, emotional and social development needs.
You must also complete work a placement and gain experience working in a primary school setting within a supportive role to a child or children with special educational needs or additional needs. The placement can be employment or on a substantial voluntary role (this must be discussed with the tutor at interview) support from the school setting is essential and references of your suitability and opportunity to support SEN provision will be requested. Assessment within the workplace forms a large part of the gathering of evidence to complete this qualification.

What will it give me?

A qualification and practical experience which will enable you to apply for a variety of support roles in both primary and secondary education.

What can I do when I finish?

You can have the opportunity to progress onto the Foundation Degree in Education & Care or gain employment.
