Level 2 Maintenance

Overview

The level 2 course in maintenance is a one-year full time programme on which students will be required to attend college for three days per week.

The units studied will provide students with practical skills and knowledge of engineering maintenance techniques including fault finding and diagnosis.

Students will carry out practical work in the fully equipped electrical & mechanical maintenance workshops, working on electrical panels and machines learning engineering skills including electrical-mechanical maintenance and handskills.

Course requirements

  • 4 GCSE’s at grade C or Above including Maths and/or English
  • A satisfactory interview and
  • An Initial assessment of Maths or English at a suitable level, where a C has not been achieved in Maths or English

Materials needed

You will need full PPE for undertaking workshop activities. This will include safety boots, overalls and safety glasses.

What can I do when I finish?

Students have the opportunity to progress to the L3 Diploma in Engineering technology once the L2 PEO has been completed and GCSE grades C or above have been achieved in Maths and English.

This course provides opportunities for employment in engineering industries as, for example; Advanced (L3) apprenticeships, engineering technicians and semi-skilled operators.
