NVQ Diploma in Professional Cookery L3 (full time)


Bishop Auckland College has one of the largest catering departments in the North East. Training students to work to industry standards and applying their skills in our newly launched state of the art kitchens and Ambition restaurant.

Course requirements

Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Patisserie and Confectionery, Level 2 NVQ in Professional Cookery, 3 GCSEs at grade C or above and industrial experience will be taken into account.

What will I do?

This part time course is taught over 2 evenings per week for 28 weeks, (Monday and Wednesday) starting Monday 14th September 6-9pm. Are you an experienced chef ready to take your cooking skills to the next level. With this qualification, you can improve your general cooking skills and learn about supervising staff. This qualification is for people with plenty of experience in a professional kitchen or have a level 2 qualification in Hospitality. You might be currently employed as a chef or studying in a college.

What will it give me?

The course will give you the extensive knowledge, skills and understanding of the catering industry. Specialised knowledge on how to prepare, cook and finish complex dishes.

Materials needed

A full uniform is required and must be purchased before the course begins. The cost of a uniform is from £60 support may be given towards the cost.

What can I do when I finish?

If you gain suitable grades you may progress to NVQ Level 3 in Hospitality and Catering or Higher Education. You may also secure employment in the Catering and Hospitality industry.
