Course overview

If your dream is to become a top Hair Stylist, then the  Diploma in Hair and Beauty L1 is the place to start.

You will learn and practice the skills needed to be successful in your career; whether this is travelling the world, working on a cruise liner, running your own salon or working in the entertainment industry.

The opportunities are as broad as your imagination. This a full time course which includes work placement along with Maths and English.   

This full time course is also taught part time on 2 evenings a week.

Course requirements

Good English and communication skills will help you on this course.

 No previous experience is required other than an interview and short assessment with the option to view our state of the art salons.

What will I do?

Whilst attending the Diploma in Hair and Beauty L1, you will be able practice your practical skills in our purpose built salons gaining valuable work experience and cover topics such as:

  • Health & Safety, 
  • Developing effective working relationships,
  • Shampoo and condition hair,
  • Blow Dry and Style hair,
  •  Plait and twist hair,
  • Colouring,
  • Face Painting,
  • Skin Care,
  • Hand care.

Theory will be assessed by assignments. 

What will it give me?

This programme aims to help you to develop the skills, knowledge and experience to gain a Level 1 qualification and to develop the skills required to progress onto a Level 2 Hairdressing Course.

Materials needed

All students in the Hairdressing and Beauty department are required to wear a uniform and purchase their own hair and beauty kit which can be purchased from the College. (Support may be provided).

What can I do when I finish?

You can choose between a Diploma in Hairdressing or Barbering or Beauty.
