Course overview

The units covered in the Foundation Diploma in IT L3, offer students the opportunity to learn the essential knowledge, skills and understating to progress into a variety of areas in the IT industry.

The course covers:

  • IT Systems,
  • Software & design.

This is the first year of the Extended Diploma or it can be supplementary to other L3 qualification to gain UCAS points.

Course requirements

5 GCSE’s at grades A-C including maths and English. A qualification in IT is desirable, progression from level 2 Merit or above will also be considered. An interview and short assessment will assess your suitability and interest in the subject.

What will I do?

This FT course is taught over 3 days a week for 1 year. Core topics covered include: IT Systems & Security, Software Development, Social Media in Business and Web Development. Units are taught in class with a mixture of written and practical activities, assessment is via assignments and externally set tasks and exams.

What will it give me?

You will achieve a BTEC Foundation Diploma in IT L3. This is equivalent 1.5 A Levels at grade A* - C and is awarded the same UcAS points.

Progression internally depending upon achievement, attendance and motivation.
