Course overview

This qualification will allow learners to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career as a painter and decorator.

Course requirements

You do not need any existing qualifications. Tools and materials will be provided though you will be required to provide white overalls (bib & brace) and safety boots or shoes.

What will I do?

In this programme you will study two units, preparing surfaces for decoration and applying paint systems by brush and roller to complex areas. You will be required to compile an evidence portfolio for this qualification comprising of such things as tools and resource lists, risk assessments, method statements and written knowledge workbooks. You will be assessed through various practical tasks for each unit which must be undertaken to tolerances and guidelines to enable you to gain either a Pass, Merit or Distinction for the units depending on the quality of your work. You will also be required to pass a multiple choice knowledge exam for each unit.

What will it give me?

On completion you could progress to a level 2 Diploma or level 2 NVQ.
