Course overview

Childcare is a growing sector with thousands of job opportunities, leading to careers that can be extremely rewarding and diverse. Opportunities include working as a nanny, childminder, creche worker or nursery assistant as well as many other possibilities. We will help develop your skills to the highest level, whichever career path you choose.


Course requirements

4 GCSE’s at Grade 3 including English Language and maths plus a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check (DBS check will be applied for upon starting the course and work placement can only start once this has been received and cleared)


What will I do?

You will study the Certificate in an Introduction to Early Years Education & Care L2 for 1 day per week and you will attend placement for 1 day per week. The course work will prepare you to work with children from 0-5 years and will cover a diverse range of job roles and occupational areas working in statutory, private and voluntary settings.


What will it give me?

The course will give you a Level 2 Certificate in an Introduction to Early Years Education & Care to work with Children from 0-5 years and knowledge up to 7 years.

What can I do when I finish?

Progression internally: You may be able to progress to the Level 3 Early Years Educator course. Employment opportunities: child and family centres; community nursery; nursery worker; day nurseries; and hospital nurseries. Child-minding, nanny work. Early Years Educators may also work in primary schools to support the work of teachers.
