Course overview

Designed for women who would like to gain basic skills in construction to carryout DIY jobs around the home, or as a foundation course for those who may consider further training at a later date. This is a part-time course is taught over one evening per week for three hours.

Course requirements

There are no course requirements for this course. Please call into the college to enrol, no interview required. Please ensure you bring a minimum of a 20% deposit when you come to enrol.

What will I do?

This is a good starter course to identify and use basic hand/power tools safely, jobs could include putting up shelves, fitting skirting board or any other requests from learners during course duration.

What will it give me?

This course will give you the confidence, skills and knowledge to tackle basic DIY jobs.

Materials needed

Safety boots and old clothing.

What can I do when I finish?

You will be able to progress on to a full-time course or you may want explore the other technology courses such as ‘Painting and Decorating’ or 'Car Maintenance and Repair'.
