Course overview

Designed for those who would like to gain basic carpentry and joinery skills or as a foundation course for those who may consider further training at a later date. This is a part-time course is taught over one evening per week for three hours.


Course requirements

There are no course requirements for this course. Please call into the college to enrol, no interview required. Please ensure you bring a minimum of a 20% deposit when you come to enrol.


What will I do?

This is a good starter course. You will identify and use basic hand/power tools safely. Basic joints, skirting board replacement, replace locks and handles etc. along with carrying out general joinery maintenance.


What will it give me?

This course will give you the confidence, skills and knowledge to tackle basic carpentry and joinery jobs. Pathway to further carpentry and joinery courses and employability skills.


Materials needed

Safety boots and old clothing.


What can I do when I finish?

You will be able to progress on to a full-time course or you may want explore the other technology courses such as ‘Painting and decorating’ or 'Car Maintenance and Repair'.
