Course overview

Designed for those who would like to gain basic skills in painting and decorating to carryout DIY jobs around the home, or as a foundation course for those who may consider further training at a later date. This is a part-time course is taught over one evening per week for three hours.

Course requirements

There are no course requirements for this course. Please call into the college to enrol, no interview required. Please ensure you bring a minimum of a 20% deposit when you come to enrol.

What will I do?

This is a good starter course. You will be preparing surfaces for decoration, applying paint systems, foundation and plain papers and producing specialist decorative finishes.

What will it give me?

This course will give you the confidence, skills and knowledge to tackle basic painting and decorating jobs. A pathway to further qualifications and employability skills.

Materials needed

Safety boots and old clothing.

What can I do when I finish?

You will be able to progress on to a full-time course or you may want explore the other technology courses such as ‘Carpentry and Joinery’ or 'Car Maintenance and Repair'.
