Course overview

Introduction to car and repair maintenance for the beginner. Building skills needed to look after your own car, be able to carry out simple servicing and fitting tasks.

Course requirements

Own vehicle (not a necessity). Please ensure you bring a minimum of a 20% deposit when you come to enrol.

What will I do?

Practice weekly under bonnet checks, changing engine oils and filters, chaining spark plugs. Battery and alternator testing, disk and drum brake inspection, basic routine maintenance.

What will it give me?

Knowledge and skills to carry out basic preventative maintenance of and simple repairs to your own vehicle. Further opportunities to progress onto an accredited Motor Vehicle course.

Materials needed

Safety boots and overalls.

What can I do when I finish?

You will be able to progress on to a full-time course or you may want explore the other technology courses.
