Course overview

This apprenticeship covers a very wide range of areas related to the skills and knowledge required for preparing to work in the Beauty Industry. Learners achieving this qualification meet the occupational competence required.

Course requirements

Minimum four GCSEs including maths and English at D or above or the equivalent Level 1 English and Maths qualifications.

What will I do?

You will be allocated an assessor who will visit you in your work place to provide support with the NVQ and you will attend Bishop Auckland College one day a week to complete the theory work. The course is both assessed practically and with online tests which are taken at the end of each unit. Practical assessments must be carried out on clients and must be completed in a commercially acceptable timescale. You will also learn/complete the following units: Monitor procedures to safely control work operations Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities Provide body electrical treatments Provide facial electrical treatments Provide body massage treatments Provide electrical epilation treatments Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business Plan and provide airbrush make-up Provide single eyelash extension treatments Carry out massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils Provide Indian head massage Provide UV tanning services

What will it give me?

L2 qualification in Beauty.

Materials needed

All students in the Hairdressing and Beauty department are required to wear a uniform and purchase their own beauty kit - which is essential for all practical sessions.

What can I do when I finish?

You can progress in to employment as a Beauty Therapist or a Beauty Technician.
