Course overview

Apprenticeships are practical hands on programmes designed to provide you with relevant, practical training, which will enable you to progress with your chosen industry.This apprenticeship covers the basics of Beauty therapy. As a Beauty Therapy Apprentice you will work under guidance of a qualified Therapist/Technician; assisting other members of staff while training as a Beauty Therapist. Duties are likely to include booking appointments, manicures, pedicures, facials, waxing and eye treatments. You will study topics such as anatomy and physiology, consultation and client care, promoting products and services, product knowledge and health and safety. On this apprenticeship you are promoting your skills and industry so it is important that you look smart and your appearance reflect the image of the salon. Good communication plays a role too, you’ll need to understand exactly what your customer wants to be able to fulfil their needs.


Course requirements

Minimum four GCSEs including maths and English A*-D or the equivalent L1 English and Maths qualifications. Alternatively you may have completed a suitable full-time programme at Level 1. You must also have a salon placement and entry will be subject to a short interview.


What will I do?

You will be required to complete the NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy as well as completing Employment Rights and responsibilities and Personal Learning Thinking Skills. If it is required, you will need to complete Functional Skills in Mathematics and English. You will also be allocated an Assessor who will visit you in the workplace to provide support.


What will it give me?

The course will give you a nationally recognised qualification alongside the invaluable experience gained in dealing with and working a part of a team. Your salon will help with your training on a daily basis and offer sessions for you to practice your skills.

To have a successful career in the beauty industry you need drive and motivation to help you constantly improve and update your personal and technical skills, in order to stay ahead of current trends and fashions.

Progression to the Level 3 (Advanced) Apprenticeship in Beauty Therapy.
