Whilst studying the Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing L2, you will add to the skills you gained at Level 1. Lessons will provide you with practical and theoretical skills relating to the hairdressing sector. If you are attening this course on a full time basis, you will be required to attend a work placement.
This course is available on a Full Time or Part Time basis. Part time is taught over 2 evenings or 2 days per week, the Full time course is ran over 3 days per week.
Minimum four GCSEs at grade A-D including English . A Level 1 Diploma in Hairdressing. There is no direct entry onto this course unless you have extensive experience in cutting and salon work. An informal interview and short assessment will be required.
If you do not hold a GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English, you will required to work towards this alongside your course.
What will I do?
You will be able practice your skills in our purpose built salons gaining valuable work experience.
Units of study included with the Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing L2 are:
- Working in the Hair Industry,
- Health & Safety in the Salon,
- Client consultation for hair services,
- Shampoo and condition hair and scalp,
- The art of dressing hair,
- Cut women's hair,
- Colour and lighten hair,
- Perm and neutralise hair,
- Create an image based on a theme,
- Plaiting and twisting hair & the Promoting of products and services.
What will it give me?
This course aims to help you to develop the skills, knowledge and experience to gain a Level 2 qualification and to become a practising Hairdresser.
All students in the Hairdressing and Beauty department are required to wear a uniform and purchase their own hairdressing kit which can be purchased from the College. (Support may be provided). Essential for all practical sessions.
What can I do when I finish?
You may want to explore a variety of Beauty Therapy courses we have on offer or progress to Level 2 Barbering or Level 3 Hairdressing qualification.
