Course overview

The Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Business is an Applied General qualification.

It is for post-16 learners who want to continue their education through applied learning. It is equivalent in size to three A Levels and has been designed as a full two-year programme. The qualification aims to provide a wide-ranging study of the sector. It is primarily designed for learners studying full time in the 16–19 age group, who wish to pursue a career in business, primarily via higher education to access graduate entry employment with businesses, or alternatively through junior business employment.

Course requirements

The entry requirements for this course are 5 GCSE’s A-C which must include Maths and English. Alternatively, learners may be able to progress from a Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject area.

What will I do?

The Extended Diploma in Business L3 will be taught over 3 days per week for one year. 

Topics will include;

  • Exploring business,
  • Developing a marketing campaign,
  • Personal and business finance,
  • Managing events and international business.

A Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Business.

What can I do when I finish?

The Extended Diploma is a two-year, full-time course that meets entry requirements in its own right for learners who want to progress to higher education courses in business areas before entering employment. It can also support learners who want to progress directly to employment in job roles in business or business management and Higher Apprenticeships in the business sector.
