Course overview

The Access to HE Diploma - Humanities/Social Science L3 is a substantial part-time, L3 course which will run Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday  9.30 – 3.00pm.

The programme is designed to support learners who want to progress onto HE study.

You will study a range of both Level 2 & 3 units

  • Level 2 units include English and Maths to improve your writing / reading skills / mathematical skills.
  • Level 3 units will be dependent on your choice of Diploma.


The Access to HE Diploma is accredited by One Awards


Course requirements

Interview & Screening process. Desirable – GCSE Maths & English but this will be discussed at interview.


What will I do?

For the Access to HE Diploma - Humanities/Social Science L3 programme you will study a range of Level 2 / 3 units in preparation for progression to studying at HE Level.
You will have the opportunity to study for GCSE Maths / English alongside this qualification if necessary.
The programme is focused on enabling you to attain the UCAS tariff points to study a degree programme which in turn will lead you to your ideal career.

Your assessment will be in a variety of formats including essays / reports / presentations / academic posters / podcasts / brochures / etc.

All Level 3 units are graded at Pass / Merit / Distinction.

What will it give me?

The Access to Higher Education Diploma is designed for mature students (aged over 19 at the start of the programme), who want to go to university but don't have the formal qualifications to get there. The programme is structured into specific pathways, which prepare students to study in Higher Education for a variety of careers as well as subject related degrees. it will give you a L3 Diploma in Humanities/Social Science.
