Course overview

Our HNC in Computing is a one year full time programme which will help you secure the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to succeed in the workplace. It will help you develop as a professional, self-reflecting individual able to meet with the demands of employers in the computing sector and be able to adapt to a constantly changing world. It will equip you with computing skills, knowledge and the understanding necessary to achieve high performance in the global computing environment. It will provide education and training for a range of careers in computing, including network engineering, software engineering, data analytics, security, intelligent systems and applications development.


Course requirements

Entry requirements include one of the following: A Level 3 qualification in Computing or A levels in a related subject Access to HE certificate Related work experience All students must have at least a Grade 4/5 in GCSE maths and English or equivalent.


What will I do?

There is a required mix of core, specialist and optional units that total 120 credits. Optional units for HNC in Computing include: Programming Networking Professional Practice Database Design and Development Security Managing a Successful Computing Project

Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Computing

What can I do when I finish?

The ideal progression form HNC is to complete the HND in Computing Level 5. This qualification aims to widen access to higher education and enhance the career prospects of those that undertake them.
