Bishop Auckland College music students hosted an end-of-year music event at Shildon Civic last week. Bands played a mixture of well-known songs from different styles of music across the decades, including hits from Black Sabbath, Passenger, Arctic Monkeys and many more. The night ended with a joint performance of the Morecambe and Wise classic ‘Bring Me Sunshine’.
Liam Samson, ‘B sides’ band member, said: “I love playing at college shows and look forward to them all year round. It gives us all a chance to showcase our musical abilities and gives us an insight on what it is like to organise a gig. The crowd were amazing throughout the night”.
Joe Hyam, music tutor at the college, took to the stage with his band ‘The Gasworks’, playing well-known songs including Gravity by John Mayor. Joe said “It was a fantastic evening of live music. All of the students worked incredibly hard preparing for the show and this was reflected in the high standard of their performances. It was a pleasure to watch them perform and I’m very proud of all the students.”
