Christmas fayre raises over £800 for nursery

Nursery staff enjoying the Christmas fayre

Children in Bishop Auckland are looking forward to a fun-filled Christmas party after an event raised nearly £900 for their nursery.

Bishop Auckland College Nursery’s annual Christmas fayre was once again a huge hit, attracting more than 160 people of all ages.

While children enjoyed meeting Princess Belle, Princess Snow White, Mr Incredible and Santa Claus, parents were entertained with a variety of stalls and tombolas and a range of refreshments.

The £894 raised will pay for the children’s Christmas party at Bamboozles Adventure World and will also be used to purchase new resources for the nursery. Located on the college’s main campus on Woodhouse Lane, it has 28 staff and currently has around 100 children aged from three months to five years.

At its last Ofsted inspection, it was rated ‘outstanding’ in every category, with inspectors finding “highly skilled staff” who provided “a wonderful range of experiences for children” and an “exceptionally high-quality educational programme”.

Nursery manager Donna Egglestone said: “The whole team at Bishop Auckland College Nursery would like to thank everyone for their support at our Christmas fayre and we hope to see all who attended again next year.”
