Special Educational Needs Assistant

Bishop Auckland College is seeking to recruit a Special Educational Needs Assistant who will be responsible for co-ordinating the LSA’s across the college provisions, track monitoring of EHCP outcomes across college programmes, conduct EHCP reviews including the writing of high needs support plans, liaise with external agencies to develop a consistent and co-ordinated approach in meeting the needs of the learners and support the SENCO in ensuring staff across college have an up-to-date knowledge of national and local initiatives.

The successful candidate will have Safeguarding Level 1 (to be achieved within 6 weeks), Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy (or willing to work towards within 2 years), Certificate in Education (or be willing to work towards within 2 years) and a minimum of a Level 4 qualification in Special Educational Needs.

Applicants will also have 3 years’ experience of teaching a range of disabilities within SEN provision – post 16, recent experience of teaching on a range of courses in FE or a training establishment, experience of working with learners with specific learning difficulties and disabilities and those with a range of support needs and experience of co-ordination a team.
