Course overview

Our MA in Psychotherapy Studies programme validated by Open University is now in its third successful year of being offered. This Level 7 programme of study is a unique opportunity to extend further into the realms of your own personal and professional development guided by embodied, relational, integrative and holistic learning practices and philosophies which will enhance and transform your life experience as well as your therapeutic practice. In its nature this MA is highly experiential requiring you to fully engage with a phenomenal learning process, this means that you need to be wholeheartedly committed and willing to step into the experience as well as being able to reflect and respond to the learning as it unfurls. The learning takes many forms (workshops, phenomenological conversation, lectures, field trips, reflection, etc), harnesses different experiencing channels (movement, sound, creativity, visual, somatic, etc) and utilises a range of assessment methods (podcast, negotiated assessment, journal reflection, creative piece, case study, essay, research thesis, etc). Academic excellence is achieved through learning and assessment that stretches and challenges your awareness and understanding in a meetable way, enabling you to fuse and nurture what you already know with new knowledge and insight creating original pieces of work. Our MA is innovative in not only its approach but also its content being the only Level 7 programme in the UK to offer a module in Wild Therapy.
