Bishop Auckland College, established in 1958, offers a diverse range of full-time and part-time courses across various disciplines, including Access to Higher Education, Higher Education courses and Apprenticeships. The College Group also includes BAC Nursery, South West Durham Training, Durham Gateway, and the McIntyre Centre collectively providing comprehensive educational services from early years to higher education.

College History

Bishop Auckland College, a leading provider of further and higher education in South West Durham, has been transforming lives since 1958. With state-of-the-art facilities, the college recently launched the Kier Skills Academy and opened the McIntyre Centre, a new café and training kitchen focused on enhancing local business skills. We continue to serve over 4,000 students across South Durham.

Legal Framework

The Corporation of Bishop Auckland College is a charitable entity, though it is exempt from registration and oversight by the Charity Commission. The Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills serves as the Principal Regulator for Further Education Colleges, with a responsibility to fully promote compliance by trustees with relevant charity regulations practicable.
