Building upon the established best practice of South West Durham Training and Bishop Auckland College’s apprenticeship models, we are proud to provide a seamless transition into the latest apprenticeship standards and the Growth and Skills Levy structure. Our approach ensures clarity, confidence and compliance, making it easier than ever for employers to grow talent within their organisation.
Understanding the Growth and Skills Levy
As of April 2025, the Apprenticeship Levy has transitioned into the Growth and Skills Levy. Employers with an annual pay bill exceeding £3 million continue to contribute 0.5% of their pay bill, with a £15,000 allowance. This levy is designed to encourage investment in high-quality skills training.
Our team of experts are here to provide tailored advice, helping you understand:
-
Your levy obligations and opportunities
-
Co-investment options for non-levy payers (95% funded by government)
We also help you plan the effective use of levy funds, including transfers and workforce development strategy.
Finding the Right Apprenticeship Pathway
Our Employment Services Team will work with you to identify the most appropriate apprenticeship programme for your needs. We ensure your chosen standard aligns with your strategic skills requirements and business ambitions.
We support both levy and non-levy paying organisations.
With new guidelines from August 2025, shorter apprenticeships (minimum eight months) and Foundation Apprenticeships for 16–21-year-olds—with incentives of up to £2,000—present more flexible and accessible routes to upskill your workforce.
