Course requirements

Suited to learners with GCSE grades 3 or below. This one-year course is designed for beginners and gives you a hands-on introduction to the hairdressing world. You'll learn in a real salon environment, building confidence while working with others and developing your creative skill.

What will I do?

You'll get stuck into practical, creative skills straight away, including: - Shampooing, conditioning & blow-drying - Basic styling (plaits, twists, and finishing looks) - Introduction to colouring (temporary and semi-permanent colours) - Creating different hair looks and styles (including mini manicures and facials) - Health & safety in a salon - How to present yourself professionally You'll also learn how to work as part of a team and communicate with clients-just like in a real salon. Real salon experience This isn't just classroom learning-you'll: - Work in a professional salon environment - Practice on real clients or classmates - Experience what it's like to be part of a salon team This helps you build confidence and get ready for the real world of work. - Learn practical skills from day one (you will need to practise your skills so there will be some repetition involved) - Express your creativity and style - Meet new people and build confidence - Take your first step towards a career in hair, barbering or beauty

What will it give me?

This programme aims to help you to develop the skills, knowledge and experience to gain a Level 1 qualification and to develop the skills required to progress onto a Level 2 Hairdressing Course.

Materials needed

You will be required to purchase a hairdressing kit and uniform.

What can I do when I finish?

After completing this course, you can progress to: - Level 2 Hairdressing or Barbering - Apprenticeships in salons - Junior roles in the hair and beauty industry
