This course offers an exciting opportunity for students passionate about the visual arts to explore, develop, and push the boundaries of their creativity. Throughout the course, you'll build a standout portfolio of art and design work, preparing you for progression into university or the professional world. Plus, you'll have the chance to showcase your artwork in exhibitions and engage in an enriched curriculum that includes cultural visits, masterclasses, visiting speakers, and connections to local galleries offering valuable work placement opportunities. After completing the course, you could progress to our HND program or pursue further studies at university. Level 3 Diploma 1 year of study and L3 Extended Diploma 1 year of study.

What will I do?

Our Extended Diploma in Art and Design Level 3 is taught over four days per week which includes work experience. The BTEC Extended Diploma provides in-depth knowledge from a wide selection of areas in the creative field including fine art, textiles, graphics, multimedia and photography. You will start with the knowledge gained from your diploma in Art and Design L2 and then develop your skills in a range of specialist areas which may include visual recording, ideas and concepts, historical studies, textiles, graphics, multimedia, photography, sculpture, computers and printmaking.

What will it give me?

This is a specialist qualification for those who have a clear view of their future career or want to progress into higher education. The course is equivalent to three A Levels and highly valued by universities.

Materials needed

You will be provided with specialist art equipment throughout the course but will be expected to provide your basic art materials and you may be asked to contribute towards the cost of educational visits as part of your studies.

What can I do when I finish?

If you gain suitable grades you may progress into higher education and study a degree in fine art, animation, fashion design, graphic design, interior design or photography.
