Course overview

A wonderful course full of exciting new elements in singing, acting and dance. Students begin to hone their skills in the performing arts, developing their experience and passion for the industry. Working within a curriculum designed around industry insights, you will also have the opportunity to perform in several shows throughout the year including Christmas Pantomime and the end of year showcase. The course also has strong links with the Eleven Arches and the Kynren production, where it will be strongly recommended you volunteer as part of this course for their performances and possible employability as you gain further experience. Progression from this course is to Level 2 Performing Arts

Course requirements

No formal entry requirements

What will I do?

Learners will study 3 days per week. (Also, undertake maths and English if you do not have an A-C or 9-5 grade) Each learner will produce a portfolio of evidence consisting of a variety of assessed pieces of work, which could include assignments and internal projects

What will it give me?

Learners will be studying towards a Level 1 Certificate in Performance skills

Materials needed

Practical kit including dance shoes and a college hoodie. Along with basic stationery items (pens, pencils, lined paper, file, etc.)

What can I do when I finish?

This qualification can help to progress learners to the higher-level course, such as the level 2 performance skills at Bishop Auckland College
