Course overview

This course is designed for adults 19+ who want to start or progress in a career in health and social care but prefer a more flexible, two-year route rather than an intensive one-year Access to Higher Education course. You will gain both the knowledge and practical experience needed to work in the sector, with a strong emphasis on real-world practice and developing confidence in care settings.

Course requirements

A commitment to study over two years A willingness to complete work placement (or be in relevant employment) Basic English and maths skills (support can be provided if needed) Successful interview

What will I do?

You will study key areas of social care practice, including: Safeguarding and duty of care Supporting individuals with a range of needs Communication and professional relationships Health, safety and wellbeing Person-centred care approaches You will also: Complete a work placement (if not already employed in the sector) Develop practical skills required for care roles Build confidence for employment or further study

What will it give me?

A nationally recognised Level 3 Diploma in Social Care The skills and knowledge needed to enter or progress within the care sector A structured and supportive alternative to Access to HE Preparation for employment or further qualifications

Materials needed

Notebook and stationery Access to a laptop or device for coursework Appropriate clothing for placement (if required)

Progress into employment in health and social care Apply for roles such as support worker, care assistant or residential care roles Progress into further training or specialist pathways Level 4/5 qualifications in health and social care Apprenticeships Access to Higher Education (if progressing to university later)
