Course overview
This introductory Fine Art - Drawing and Painting course is designed for adults who want to explore the fundamentals of visual art. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refresh your skills, this relaxed and friendly course offers a creative starting point to explore a variety of art techniques and resources throughout. The course based in the heart of the community at The Artists Hub in Newgate Street is at a cost of £200 for 10 weeks (alternatively fees may be waivered if you are on a means tested benefit). Starting Friday, the 24th April this course will run every Friday afternoon 1.00pm to 4.00pm, during term time.
Course requirements
No formal qualifications required. Suitable for adults aged 19+, including complete beginners, career-changers, those looking for a new hobby or looking to build a portfolio in fine art in a relaxed daytime setting at The Artists Hub in Newgate Street Bishop Auckland.
What will I do?
You will gain hands-on experience in a range of key techniques, including: Basic drawing techniques and mark making, observational drawing, pencil and pens, plus watercolour painting etc. with a completion of a small portfolio and final piece.
What will it give me?
A Level 1 Award in Creative Crafts (Fine Art and Drawing). A solid foundation in basic drawing and painting techniques. Developing confidence in working with a variety of artistic mediums and progression routes to a Level 2 course in the future.
Materials needed
It is optional if you would like to purchase your own equipment throughout the course, but all session resources will be provided, as well as an A3 sketchbook for all new students.
