A keen interest in photography and if possible your own DSLR Camera.

What will I do?

During the course, learners will explore the basics of photography through practical activities and creative projects. You will learn how to use a camera or digital device to capture images, experiment with composition, lighting, viewpoint, framing, and subject matter, and begin to understand how photographs can communicate ideas and meaning. Learners may explore portrait, still life, landscape, or themed photography projects while developing skills in selecting, reviewing, and presenting images. You will also learn about safe working practices, basic editing techniques, and how to reflect on and improve your work.

What will it give me?

This qualification will help you build confidence in photography while developing creative, technical, and observational skills. Learners may also wish to bring a notebook or sketchbook to record ideas, research, and reflections. Tutors will advise if any additional materials or equipment are required for specific projects.

What can I do when I finish?

After completing the Level 1 Award in Photography, learners may progress onto Level 2 qualifications in Photography, Art and Design, or wider creative programmes. The course also provides a strong foundation for developing photography as a hobby, building confidence in digital creativity, creating a personal portfolio, or exploring creative and media-related career pathways.
